What is an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU)?

An ADU is a smaller residential building you can place on the back of your lot- normally behind the main house. It can be rented for additional income or used for additional space for your own family needs; such as a home for your parents, children, in-laws, or office space. An ADU is an excellent way for a landlord to increase their income from a rental property.

Why have ADUs become so popular in the last year?

In 2020 the State of California passed laws that recognized the housing crisis in California. The new laws were written to encourage home owners/land owners to build ADUs to provide additional housing while reducing the cost of construction. The new laws are mandatory for cities to follow and greatly simplify the process of constructing ADUs. In general, most cities are very cooperative.

How can I help you?

I can assist you in buying and/or building an ADU. I am affiliated with an ADU dealer and we have a display lot for new manufactured ADUs in Antioch. I will be happy to give you a no obligation tour of several ADUs and to explain the process.

For those persons who must stick-build their ADUs I provide a service of coordinating with an architect, a general contractor, and the city. This way you don’t have to do any of the work.
